"The Patient Files" Staged Reading
Join us at The Lynn Theater for a staged reading of “The Patient Files” by Albee Horowitz. The Patient Files takes the timeless concept of “sanity” versus “insanity” and extends it to two places: to the stories and plays of the Ancient Greeks, and to the halls of a psychiatric facility in 1955 just outside Chicago, during the beginnings of a systemic change is psychiatric medicine. Flanked by hallucinations and dreams, the play dips in and out of reality to remind us that the black and white of “sane” and “insane” is not as simple as we are often told to believe. Oedipus Rex, Medea, Clytemnestra, and Cassandra all come alive in a retelling of mythology that aims to ask an itching question: Why are some people decided to be crazy and others are not?
